2002 Ford Ranger
It's been around for a long time - fourteen years - but this year marks
some important new developments in the line up for the Ford Ranger Pickup
Truck. More power and improved handling make this tough customer difficult
to compete with, and distinctive design lends to an attractive curbside
appeal.
Available Models
Four sturdy models hit the road for 2002 - the Ford Ranger
XL, Ranger Edge, Ranger XLT, and the all-new FX4 premium off-road package.
No need to look any further than this impressive line up to meet your
every demand in a pickup. With a full range of luxury, performance, and
safety features covering a wide range of specifications, you'll find the
vehicle that's perfect for you.
Interior Features
Inside the spanking-new FX4 are special 4x4 mats, special sport
bucket seats and upholstery, driver and passenger side grab handles, an
eye-catching interior trim, and two available interior colors. Among the
amenities are power windows, power door locks, an AM/FM stereo with dual
media stereo, speed control, and tilt steering wheel wrapped in genuine
leather for sporty good looks.
The Edge boasts air conditioning, a four-speaker AM/FM stereo with CD
player, and a heavy-duty interior with maslite floor that enables you
to clean up mud and dirt effortlessly.
Exterior Features
From the outside, the FX4 wears a heavy-duty skid plate, stainless
steel tow hooks in the front and one black tow hook in the rear, and gorgeous
forged aluminum wheels with exposed stainless lug nuts. The Styleside
box comes in four colors with black exterior trim. This vehicle is equipped
with dual power outside mirrors and a sliding rear window.
Meanwhile, the Edge sports a monochromatic exterior in bold color choices,
and features tow hooks on the 4WD models, along with fog lamps and an
attractive mesh grille. Thick bed rail covers and a raised power dome
hood put the emphasis on the sheer power of these vehicles.
Performance
A refined 2.3-litre inline four-cylinder engine is standard,
with an optional 4.0-litre, SOHC V6 that pumps out 207 horsepower offered
up. The standard transmission is a heavy-duty five-speed manual in all
three Ranger trucks, with a five-speed automatic transmission with adaptive
shift strategy is also available.
The suspension has undergone a number of improvements and updates, leading
to a marked reduction in noise, vibration, and harshness of bumps in the
road.
Safety and Security
The Ford Ranger is equipped with anti-lock brakes, large rotors,
and rear drum brakes combined with electronic brake force distribution
for maximized control and rapid braking. Passengers are protected by a
driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, three-point seatbelts,
and head restraints.
